We already speak the language.

Passings and take rate. Seat count and MRR. Enrollment funnels, membership renewals, and design systems. We come to the first call knowing how the business runs, so discovery starts with the questions that decide the build instead of the ones that explain the industry.

Industry experience

Four industries, one way of working.

Different systems, different customer paths, different words for the same problem. Start with yours.
  1. Internet Service ProvidersPassings, serviceability, take rate, and a buy flow that begins with an address instead of a name. We connect billing, HubSpot, the website, and field sales so a customer is one record from the first address check to the install, and every campaign can be tied to subscribers signed.Explore ISP work
  2. Managed Service ProvidersSales sees the opportunity. Service sees the tickets. The account manager needs the whole relationship before the QBR. We bring PSA, RMM, and HubSpot into one account record, so renewals rest on evidence and MRR reporting comes from one place.Explore MSP work
  3. Mid-market B2BA website inquiry, a sales opportunity, and an existing customer should not be three disconnected records. We connect the website, HubSpot, and the operations systems behind them so the team can follow the relationship from first inquiry to renewal and leadership can trust the report. Recent work includes D&Y Staffing and Arrowhead Winch.Explore B2B work
  4. Higher Education and Membership OrganizationsStudents, members, and donors are relationships that renew on a calendar, not deals that close. Universities and associations run them across many audiences, many owners, and systems of their own, from Slate to the membership database. We build accessible websites and enrollment experiences that each campus unit's team runs after launch, and we connect HubSpot to the membership and enrollment systems behind them so one record follows the relationship.Explore higher education and membership work

What changes by industry, and what does not.

Most of our work is with internet service providers. MSPs and mid-market B2B companies carry the same problem in different systems: customer data spread across platforms that nobody fully owns. Higher education and membership organizations are where we learned to build large websites that many hands maintain, and to connect HubSpot to the enrollment and membership systems that run the relationship. The vocabulary changes with each. The way we work doesn't.

  1. The system speaks the business's language

The data model, the customer path, and the reports are built around how the operation runs, not around a generic platform pattern. An ISP's record starts with an address. An MSP's starts with a contract. A university's starts with a prospective student who has not applied yet, and an association's with a member whose renewal is already on the calendar.

  2. The same skills, applied to different systems

Information architecture, lifecycle design, accessibility, data ownership, and security show up in every engagement. An ISP calls it serviceability, a university calls it enrollment, and an association calls it membership, but the work underneath is the same, and we have done it many times.

  3. The team owns it when we are done

Clear ownership, documentation inside the platform, and training by role are part of every engagement. Adoption is what we are building toward, whichever industry the client is in.

Common questions

Do you only work with ISPs and MSPs?

No. Connectivity and IT service providers are most of our work and the industries we know best. We also have a long track record with universities and membership organizations, on websites and on HubSpot, and with mid-market B2B companies whose operations depend on several systems agreeing.

We are not in one of these four industries. Is Second Mile a fit?

Often, yes. The fit is less about the industry label and more about the shape of the business: several operational systems that have to agree, a team that will run HubSpot or the website themselves, and leadership that needs reporting it can trust. If that describes you, the first conversation will tell us both quickly.

What does industry experience change in a HubSpot or website project?

Two things. First, the questions we ask in discovery, and how fast we get to the ones that matter. We already know that an ISP's customer record has to start with an address, that an MSP's renewal lives in the PSA, that a university site has a dozen owners, and that an association's member record lives in the AMS, so that knowledge shows up in the data model, the reporting, and the training. Second, speed. We bring existing systems and processes from earlier work in the same industry, including integration code we have already written and workflows we can customize and deploy inside your instance, so the first useful result arrives sooner.

Do you work with universities and associations on HubSpot as well as websites?

Yes. The work began with websites and content governance and now includes enrollment marketing, CRM, and automation, including Slate-connected enrollment paths for universities and HubSpot connected to the membership system for associations.
